In my country (czech) everybody is an atheist and being member of any religion makes you look weird. (Just me - complete idiot - wanted to be something special, when I was a teenager, so I joined the only true religion...)

If You Never Were A JW What Religion Do You Think You Would've Been In?
by minimus inmy family were all catholics.
i think i would've been one simply because i was raised in it and even if i didn't agree with everything, i would still be able to talk to my friends and family.. i would think i'd be a catholic in name only.
"religion" doesn't get me excited..

It made me think for a while about feelings we have to deal with in our lives...
How do I see it?
Is it not WTBS who wanted us to believe "we have to do something extraordinary to be worth of love, apreciacion, attention"? We had to be pioneers, elders, servants, to comment twice at each meeting, to do this and that to deserve attention an apreciacion... and if you dont, you are weak, not worth of anything nice. How many times did we hear "Sure, even some members of the congregation will not survive Armageddon...!!!" (Translaton: Fear and feel guilty you damned bastards!)
THIS IS OVER sooner 7nc (and anybody else who feels this way..) !
Nobody is judging you and nobody is comparing you to somebody else. Everybody here is special and very important friend. Everybody here is helping to find freedom to those who are traped in a dangerous cult. It is not about deep comments, Its about you, who found the way out of the cult. Just by being and posting here you show to others that it is possible to escape WT and to build your own life.
Before I came here I was figuring out what to do (one feet out of WT..) for several years. After reading your stories and posts I realized what I really want to do with my life and today so many things have changed. Now Iam ou and first time after 18 years I feel free, life is so different, I teach the real truth my son and even my wife (raised up in an ultra hardcore JW family) is making incredible progress....
The big change came after comming here and being able to know you, to talk to you and to share ideas and feelings with you...!

Newborn: I am Czech. BTW I was in Sweden for a busines trip years ago - it was to Goteborg (Molnlycke company).
Iam sure its cold up there today... Its zero celsius here...

Question About Tithing
by Confuzzled insome of you may have read my post about my lasped jw boyfriend, and his pressure on me to consider to convert eventually (i'm not going too!
) but i still would like to better understand the church and watch tower society better so i can understand this mindset he has.
he makes much to do about the lack of an offering plate, and "the 2 boxes, one for the church, the other for the needy, nobody is put on the spot to donate".

Confuzzed - I absolutely agree, JW are great decorators and their top managers are very efficient with money. What troubles me more, they are false prophets, lie to people, protect pedophile abusers, let innocent kids die because of blood issue... and treat their member like garbage ...
In my country (eastern Europe) they let go big number of brothers unnecessarily suffer in prison and being arrested an prosecuted by police because WTBS did not allow them to serve in the alternative service - the threat by WTBS was disfellowshipping (means breaking your family, loosing all your friends an being condemned by an allmighty god to death...). THEY KNEW ITS A NONSENSE POLICY FOR 20 YEARS!!! They only lifted this up in 1996, never apologized and never reinstated those whe were disfellowshiped becouse of serving alternative service...
People are garbage for WTBS (above mentioned is my personal story - thist took several years of my life)! But I must admit Kingdom halls are neatly decorated as you have posted...

This commercial is an excellent example of WHY religion should remain out of the classroom.
Elsewhere - very true...
They believe that by associating their own views with a famous "smart person" (no matter how far removed or different the actual opinions of that person are) they somehow prove their argument.

The Ark and shells/creatures
by wantstoleave insorry if it's been covered before..... i'm struggling with the flood.
media has reported over the years finding bits of this and that (the ark) on top of a mountain.
seashells are often found high on hills or mountains.

For those that say no, can you tell me how you dismiss these finds?
There so far is not one single credible proof of Ark being found... Dont you think if there was one, it would be the most important archeological findings in mankinds history? More important than dinosaurs and whatever else...? All the world would be aware of that and it would be in all history books? But there is nothing...
Look on the picture provided on the site you mentioned... If the ark was this big, would you fit in all the animals in the world and food for them? Were you ever in a ZOO?
